They don’t worship a tree, but under it | Back
They don’t worship a tree, but under it “They had heard of Jesus before, but only knew Him to be the Lord of Christians,” he says..

Their Lord, too
Now, these gentle farmers know all about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Mr. N. explained to them that blowing is like praying to God to help people, and shared how His love and grace is given to all who believe in His Son. Through Mr. N.’s patient efforts, 121 villagers have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. .

These new Christians no longer worship a tree, but under a tree when they come together each Sunday as a church with Mr. N. as their pastor..

By making a gift today, you can help more Christian leaders in remote parts of Southeast Asia like Mr. N. Please give generously and remember to pray for the millions of people in Southeast Asia who have yet to meet Jesus.

When he first arrived, the people in the small village at the end of a long dirt trail in a mountainous and isolated part of Celebes island did not want to meet him. Mr. N., a church planter trained by Bible League International, was perplexed and tired after making the long journey to share Jesus Christ.

“Even when I approached them, they departed from me and preferred to hide behind a building,” Mr. N. recalls..

Spirit worshippers
The people were members of the Da’a tribe. They were poor and mainly uneducated, with most of the families living on root crops that they raised. The Da’a are animists who worship spirits in the natural world. They follow village healers who blow over a person and recite spells to send away sickness. .

When they finally agreed to talk to Mr. N., they revealed that they worshipped a big tree in their village.
